Working around Twitter’s breakup with LinkedIn

twitter and linkedin

Apparently Twitter gave LinkedIn the ‘ole, “it’s no you, it’s me” line. LinkedIn announced on Friday that they can no longer pull your tweets into your LinkedIn status if you had that setup. Since tweets are a key source of content in LinkedIn, many are wondering whether this is good for either company or its shared users.

If this development is disappointing for you, I have a simple workaround. Using one of my favorite free services, IFTTT (If This Then That), here is how to get your tweets automatically flowing back into your LinkedIn status:

  1. Click on this IFTTT task recipe I’ve shared: http://ifttt.com/recipes/43290 (will open in a new wind0w)
  2. Click Use
  3. Either logon to an existing IFTTT account or create a new one. (If you are creating a new account, scroll down to the bottom of the welcome page after signing up and click on the blue Back to Recipe button.)
  4. Click on the blue Activate buttons below the Twitter and LinkedIn icons to authorize use with IFTTT.
  5. Click Use Recipe button to activate
